Ben Bowly earns while he learns

Student Ben Bowly is on his way to a career with the help of Woolworths and Diversity Dimensions. The 24 year old from Cairns in Far North Queensland says that without the program and the ability to “earn while he learns” his tertiary education would not be possible. Ben has just commenced studying for a Diploma in Health Science and plans to go on to study for a Bachelor of Laboratory Science which will take a further 4 years to complete.
After gaining employment with Woolworths through the Diversity Dimensions Recruiting the Future Program in July this year, Ben had been working up to 35 hours per week in most departments of the Supermarket at Smithfield Queensland. His study load has meant that Ben has had to reduce his work hours a little. “I love the challenge of managing my studies and work. It keeps me very busy” he says.
Diversity Dimensions mentor Trevor Eastwood is impressed with the young man. “Ben’s grown up in Carovonica (Cooki yalungy unka mooty) tribal area, he is a role model to his peers and the rest of the community and I believe that he has a bright future ahead of him. Management are full of praise and he has already trained in most aspects of the store” he said.
